Why I started Just Malanb poem of the day

So recently I decided to start a writing exercise where I will write one poem a day reflecting on my current mode, locations, personal struggles and triumphs.  As you all may not know I was a published poet in grade school and college. After leaving college and working on blogging and in fashion,  sadly my focus on writing poetry took a backseat.

Now that I running three blogs,Heavy on Fashion, Just Malanb, and Milan Malan word on the street, I that I should not only stay true to my brand but also myself. Poetry has been therapeutic for me through the years.  Since Just Malanb is all about my personal journey in life, why not post a daily glimpse of my life to all of you.

Just MalanB - Soul Saturday "What is my purpose?"

Hello all my Just Malan B readers. 

I know it has been a long time since I have written on JustMalanb but I assure you that I will be posting at least once a week with all my self discovered, need found lessons of life, my journey of reaching my goal weight of 150 pounds, and just living life. 

Today is my very first Soul Saturday post. I actually got the concept from Oprah Winfrey's Super soul Sunday. I believe is just as good of day as any to reflect on life, goals, and challenge. My challenge I am facing today is finding my purpose. I am sure I am not alone in my journey of finding what my grand propose in life is. I am probably one of the few that is setting a deadline in finding it.

You're probably saying "Are you serious you're sitting the deadline for your purpose", Yes I am! We set  deadlines for goals for everyday, so why not set a deadline for a purpose. I mean don't get me wrong I know what I'm good at but I don't know what my purpose in life is. Their is a belief that each person has a purpose, a function that assistant in making the world a better place to live and becoming a better person. So, I decided to find out what my purpose in the arts. Since I was a young girl I've found myself drawn to writing , art and music. I just don't know what which one I should focus on if not all three areas.

My deadline is going to be on my birthday May 2nd.
I think my birthday is the great deadline because it gives me a fresh start on a new career and a new focus on what I have to work towards.

May 2nd = A new age & A new purpose!

What is Malanb Reading- Sun Tzu - the Art of War

So I just started reading The Art of War by Sun Tzu. No I'm not going "in" on anyone. Whether it is in your profession or in your personal life, The Art of War has some great tips on livingand about dealing with conflict. So far it is a great read and full of insightful tips.

Nil doctrine is back and My Take on Ocho CInco

OK so you know I had to post one of my fav youtube channels
again...Lildoc1more...Google that if you are not familiar.

As far as Chad/Ocho Cinco picking more of my white sistas than my latina and black sistas for the casting of his show...I have mixed feelings

I am a bit disappointed but I am not surprised. The girls the Ocho picked are either looked like a Kim Kardashian rip off or a some other reality t.v star. the should be, why do you care who Ocho is picking on the show. On the other hand...he is picking who he like. Which is a bit confusing because he has 4 kids by a Black women! So did his taste change or did his career/$ change his taste?


Lets be real no one would even care about him if he didn't have any money. If Ocho was the cat living next door, trust and believe no one would give a damn who he is dating.

This does not make me a fan of Ocho Cinco....Hell No....I don't care about what this fool does ...It not geting me a book deal or paying the bills...so Let move on and focus on our own dream and stop staring at others fake realities!

Making Changes vs Improving yourself

So I know that I talk about changing myself all the time. Well maybe I should think about not changing myself but improving myself. How did I come to this epiphany. Living and reading, not in that order. I mean I been living for a while now and I was so wrapped up in what others wanted from my life. Well I am reading this book The Little Black book of Success Laws of Leadership for Black Women and I learned so much. Sometimes the lessons of life coincides with the lessons of business. SO far I am learning valuable lessons from this book and just the art of living that has me realizing that changing yourself is not the way to go.

Many people in this world change themselves so others will like them. I been doing that for a long time now. Trying to shape myself into everyone but myself. While life is a journey where you can find out who you are ...books are a way to see that others have went into the same thing . So I am finding that


This book is full of wisdom for life and business.

So while the whole world is tell you that you need to look this way to be deemed beautiful by all or you need to wear this to be fashionable to all ...Why not make your own style that look great on you.

Got to work it out...

So today I am starting to get my body right. About to do my two miles walk. I am going to finally work this body out. Its been a long time coming.

So My post today about trying to accomplish all the things you need to do and working it out whether it is getting healthier, finding a job, starting your own business, working on your family, or getting your bills in order.

Don't be discourage, keep your head up and your heart open so blessings can come on through.
